1. ALL Residents Eligible to Sign Up For The Covid-19 Vaccine

All individuals in Groups 1-5 may sign up on the Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH) Vaccine Appointment Scheduling List to be notified when an appointment is available. Group 4 individuals eligible to be vaccinated beginning March 31 will receive scheduling notification beginning March 29. Individuals in Group 5 will receive scheduling notifications beginning April 5. For more information, click here: https://www.dconc.gov/

3. Durham's Better Bus Project To Improve Bus Access & Comfort

Want to learn more about GoDurham's bus stop improvements? Check out the GoDurham Better Bus Stop Project. This 18 month project that will focus on safe pedestrian access and increased comfort at bus stops. 4. Beware of COVID-19 Vaccine Scammers! 

Beware of scams! Vaccines are FREE and open to anyone in the current vaccine groups. If you get a call requesting payment or social security information, hang up! For more information about the COVID-19 Vaccine distribution in Durham, go here: https://www.dcopublichealth.org/home

 

5. Funds Available for Durham's Small Businesses

Durham Small Business Recovery Fund has helped 175 small, minority & women-owned local businesses with $1.6 million in funds for their fight for survival during COVID-19. Read more about this program and how to contact Carolina Small Business Development Fund for the $1 million still available in business loans at https://www.durhambusiness360.com.

6. Participatory Budgeting Grants Available Til March 31st

The Participatory Budgeting Durham grant application is open until March 31st! Nonprofits and community organizations directly serving our residents impacted by COVID-19 are encouraged to apply for up to $50,000 in grant funding. Engage Durham is seeking your help understanding community needs and priorities for the Southeast Durham focus area. They are in the process of creating future land use designations that are consistent with what the community wants to see from the draft goals and objectives for the Comprehensive Plan. 8. Learn More About Programs For Gifted Students

Join Durham Public Schools Family Academy and Durham County Cooperative Extension on April 15 from 530-7PM for a workshop focused on Durham Public Schools and community-based programs for gifted and talented children. Learn how DPS students are identified for and served by the Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program and how you can support and advocate for your gifted and talented child. 9. Community Planting Day at Ashe Street Garden

As you are crafting strategies to address issues such as flooding, tree canopy, and water quality in your communities, ECWA, DCLT, UCAN, SEEDS, TCF invites you to Ashe Street Garden Kickoff event. This is the future project site where several organizations will partner to address persistent flooding from stormwater that interferes with safe and healthy residential living at this location. 10. DPR's 2021 Earth Day & Other Important Information 

Durham Parks & Recreation Earth Day Celebration happening on Saturday, April 24! Enjoy concerts and conservation talks from the comfort of your vehicle or bring your own chairs & sit directly in front of your vehicle. Three timeslots will be offered from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m., or 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. This is a free event, but preregistration is required per vehicle!
