Works of Art in Progress

In partnership with the YMCA’s Togetherhood, we’re transforming Community Preschool at Lakewood’s blank wooden fence into a colorful, nature-inspired work of art.  In early June, volunteers from Westminster Presbyterian Church white-washed the fence. Now, local artist and Lakewood Montessori Middle School Art Teacher, Delvecchio Faison, is painting scenes of butterflies, ladybugs, and other animals

.

Local artist Candy Carver is painting a storm drain mural at Lakewood Elementary school.

During the last days of school, she began working on the mural and Lakewood classes came out to learn about the art project. Stormwater educators Laura Smith and Emily Rhode talked with each class about important role storm drains play in our water system. This storm water drain flows to Jordan Lake. This mural will be completed in July.

Remember, only rain down the drain!
