Third Fork Creek Trail Open To The Public Sections of the Trail Reopen After Construction
Construction on the Third Fork Creek Trail and the surrounding area is complete and the trail has reopened to the public.
Several sections of trail were replaced and parts of Third Fork Creek were restored between March and August. Construction work included restoring Third Fork Creek between Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway and Cardinal Drive. The work also included replacing two sections of asphalt trail with boardwalk. The work will improve the creek’s water quality and protect the trail from damaging floods and sediment. Later this fall, trail users will notice additional plants being placed throughout the project site to help stabilize the creek. Waiting until the fall will help make sure the plants have the best chance to survive.
The Public Works and Parks & Recreation Departments appreciate the patience of the residents who were inconvenienced by the work. To learn more about the project, visit the project website.
