GoDurham Service Update – June 29

Beginning Monday, June 29, GoDurham will resume its normal schedule. The agency will continue to suspend fares and ask customers who are able to use only the rear door to help maintain social distancing for our bus operators.

GoDurham is continuing all of its pandemic-related cleaning procedures, deep-cleaning each bus daily and sanitizing high-touch areas several times a day. Durham Station also undergoes intensive cleaning throughout the day.

GoDurham Riders Required to Wear Face coverings

Orange County, Durham County and the cities of Durham and Raleigh all have mandated that residents cover their faces in public so GoDurham also is requiring that riders use face coverings. At the customer service desk inside Durham Station, GoDurham will have face coverings available to those without them while supplies last.

GoDurham Implements Rear Door Boarding

GoDurham has suspended all fare collections and ask all riders who are able to enter through the rear doors of buses in an effort to support social distancing and reduce contact with frequently touched surfaces such as fare boxes. GoDurham ACCESS rides also will be free.

GoDurham Passengers

To comply with social distancing practices, GoDurham buses will allow up to 16 passengers per bus. When all seats are taken, a bus operator can change the head sign to say “BUS FULL,” and passengers at bus stops will need to wait for the next available bus. We appreciate your understanding as we do everything we can to minimize any risks during this situation.

GoDurham Covid-19 Cleaning Procedures

GoDurham has taken additional precautionary measures in addition to their standard daily cleaning of buses and facilities in response to Covid-19. These measures include:

  • In the buses, interior passenger areas and driver compartments are cleaned daily with Lysol. This includes seats, windows, floors and hand holds (stanchions and doors).

    • Durham Station is being cleaned daily and the platform is pressure-washed.
    • Hand sanitizer stations are on back order due to demand but will be placed throughout the facility.
    •  Workers are cleaning all door handles and knobs once an hour during hours of operation with sanitizing wipes.

GoDurham continues to monitor all recommendations coming from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local and state health departments. Please check for updates from the CDC HERE.
