NIS Staff Assist with NCCU Tour

Neighborhood Improvement Services staff assisted with organizing a tour of North Carolina Central University for Granville Academy of Waterbury, Connecticut.   Approximately 22 high school seniors and 11 chaperones came from Waterbury, Connecticut for the tour.

Granville Academy of Waterbury, Connecticut is a non-profit 501 (c)(3), after school coaching and counseling program. The Granville Academy of Waterbury (GAW) was founded in 1992. The program is designed to give inner-city youth an introductory knowledge of business and industry. This includes an understanding of the language, foundation, and environment of the free-enterprise system. Now in existence for over 20 years, Granville Academy continues to strive to expand its programs and offerings to the Greater Waterbury area.

Neighborhood Improvement Services Director, Constance Stancil welcomed the students and briefly spoke about City of Durham Government and a synopsis of Neighborhood Improvement Services responsibilities.
