Dog Walker Watch training

Dog Walker Watch training

Turn your daily dog walk into a powerful act of community care. This free Dog Walker Watch training, hosted by the City of Durham, teaches you how to be the eyes and ears of your neighborhood while building trust and safety for everyone who calls Durham home.

Learn how to recognize and report suspicious or unsafe activity, including who to call and when it’s appropriate to involve the police. We’ll also cover what to do if you witness a high-stress situation involving law enforcement that may cause fear or confusion in the community, especially for vulnerable neighbors.

The training also includes practical safety tips for dog walkers: how to stay alert on your route, what to carry, how to protect yourself and your pet, and how to support others with compassion and calm.

Whether you’re a seasoned dog owner or just someone who walks the neighborhood, you’ll leave equipped to keep Durham safe, connected, and welcoming for all.
